On another thread I've attempted to engage forum members in a discussion about life being a "battle of wits", (or not).
One way in which there may be fair objections to the argument raised in that discussion is when someone feels they need help, emotional support or whatever, and where they might seek it.
If everyone we meet is simply considering how to get the better of us then it becomes hard to imagine anyone welcoming another human being seeking support doesn't it(?).
Things do come along to knock us down dont they, issues most might find tricky to deal with you'd probably agree, (unjust accusations or treatment being an obvious example, or simply a lack of love in your life maybe).
However, being more positive, "strokes of luck", or occasions when we've done something really well and been appreciated for it, can be things we can all think about to assist us, and even make us feel more able to seek more assistance (if for example whatever knocked your confidence is still hanging around your neck).
I'd suggest it is true too, our fallibilities as human beings we can be more ready to acknowledge, and this helps too, (letting us off the hook we place ourselves on when things haven't gone so well due in part to our own foolishness).
There will of course, always be folks around ready to take advantage of us, (sometimes doing things we'd never consider ourselves), so we mustn't start wearing rose coloured/tinted spectacles, and sometimes they must be either ignored or resisted as appropriate).
