Fighter jets will be phased out by the military!

This will probably be the last generation of fighters as new technology makes them death traps with better surface to air missiles. Further, they are just too expensive and drones can do the same job. Looks like top gun is retiring...

Naw...the Military/Industrial Complex will probably continue to find ways to convince our government to spend Billions of dollars on aircraft that serve little practical purpose. After all, We MUST police the world. The most effective aircraft in our arsenal is the A10...and they want to retire it.

I remember Senator Proxmire handing out the Golden Fleece Award in the past for such things as the 600 dollar hammer and the 900 dollar toilet seat. Let's hope that things have improved somewhat...

Will the Navy have drone carriers in place of the present big carriers? Submarine drone carriers?

Don't need them. Simply deploy intelligent drones on the sea bed with a long life battery to power the detection systems (maybe a five year life).

When the detector is triggered, either by the unique sound signature of a pre-programmed vessel or by a wake up call from the Pentagon (or the Kremlin!) it floods the sea water battery ad within 2 - 4 seconds, depending on temperature and salinity it will be fully operational, ready to operate sub-surface or to surface and launch into air operations.

They can be deployed anywhere, from San Francisco Bay to the Bering Sea, and from Murmansk to the Strait of Hormuz. It's a big ocean and if fishing boats, and even airliners with bleepers, can disappear, there would be no problem cloaking these.

Its not science fiction, the technology exists.
