ftp is file transfer protocol and most big companies have this on their main frame computers, games, browsers, operating systems, and most home computers can access this protocol..much like usenet where there are many files stored, the internet is not just the web, there is a lot more out there...

I remember when I found Usenet. I accidentally typed .rn (If I recall correctly) and my eyes shot out of my head. 😳😳

The binaries groups, the cooking, travel, on and on. Talk about the "Pandora's Box" being opened!!
😇🤣🤮

When I had my business full time, I used an .xls spreadsheet to keep an inventory of my parts on hand. That was better than having to root through all my parts to find out if I had a certain part or if someone else was seeking it. I restored old vehicles, so I had many different parts for many different makes snd models. If I bought any wrong parts, I never returned them, I put them in inventory knowing that I may need it someday. We had a national network setup where everyone that belonged to the organization could see each others inventories and prices. I needed a new or good used right rear axle for a ‘39 Chevy coupe. I typed it into the system and found one in Indiana. I ordered it and paid for it using PayPal and 2 days later, it was delivered. I did that many, many times over the years while in business.
