After being rejected for a body temp. of 99.6 a couple weeks ago I tried again yesterday and my temp was 98.8 so I got to give one. Thy encourage you to drink a lot of fluids after and I forgot that until dinner time and was dizzy for most of the afternoon. So I guzzled about a half gallon or more of water and woke up today feeling normal.

Good for you!!!

Let me ask you a question: one of the locals does that regularly, and she said they automatically test for covid. I think she's mistaken. It might be different in different places, but what do you think?

I thought they test the blood donated, afterwards, rather than the person beforehand,
but I don't know for sure, so I will be interested in the answer, too.

I have a rare blood type so I give every couple months.

From my understanding, the Red Cross doesn't have the facilities to test for Covid on-site. They ask some additional questions, check body temp, (they do that anyway) but that's it. If you've given blood, you know they take a few small vials for testing as part of the donation process.

My understanding is that before they ever distribute it, they use that vial blood to test for Covid along with all the other things they test for (several types of hepatitis, HIV, syphilis, other infections, and they've now added Covid to that list.) If the blood is tainted in any way, it's not used.

The only thing they did with me is take my temperature. I can't imagine not checking every blood donation for the COVID19. I had to answer many disease related questions prior to drawing blood.
