Finding Inspiration When You Most Need It

What brings you inspiration when you most need it?

What lifts your heart enough to shift your attitude?

What keeps you going?

Haven't watched the video, because i watch a lot similar things on an almost daily basis, as well as read similar things. Plan on answering your questions in reverse order:

What keeps me going is the commitment i made to see this life thru when i was given the option of coming back during my NDE. While the idea of living to 98 as my grandmas did is often daunting, especially given current state of the world. i made my choice to see it thru whether i last that long or not.

What lifts my heart and attitude: Kindness, compassion--whether between persons, or persons & other animals or between two or two kinds of the other animals we share this planet with. i am lifted by showing these qualities as well as by observing or being on receiving end of the transaction.

While i have spiritual beliefs i don't subscribe to any organized religion--yet i respect others' belief systems. i think most names for 'God' are just semantic variations of what i call 'Divine Consciousness', i perceive it's influence all around us, and in us.

What inspires me:
The same things that lift my heart and attitude. Kindness & compassion are Divine Consciousness/God working thru us in this world. Nature-microcosm and macrocosm--as in from grain of sand to the universe. The way everything gets 'recycled' by nature. Just standing outside, observing things can inspire me.

I have trouble answering these questions. I am inspired when I wake up every morning. Otherwise, I suppose I would not get up at all...

As to what inspires me...life inspires me!

I never recall looking for inspiration or even motivation, I just have always had it. Even in extreme sadness, like when my father died, I still felt inspired and blessed that I was here to press on...I knew that is what he would want me to feel!

Creativity and especially music.

There's angry music, party music, contemplative music. There's music for every occasion. A piece of music can transport you back into the past, or even the future. My collection of music tells the story of my life. I know precisely where, and why, I bought a particular album. I can listen in a quiet space, or use it as background to conversation.

Knowing good can come out of bad things and sad things!

"What lifts your heart enough to shift your attitude?"

It can be the little things-like last week I saw a mother deer with two twins , the colors of Fall,
being able to fix PC problems without need for a PC technician, cooking a good meal, watching a good movie,
reading good book, being in a prayer group, and most importantly-recognizing God's overwhelming love for each one of us.

"What keeps you going?"
I do volunteer work for veterans, have great neighbors (although this is an isolated rural community) and have many friends in my church. I have a GREAT daughter as well!
During Covid we were all so isolated but the seniors in my church were called once a week by at least one of our Deacons and we seniors also broke into small groups to call each other during the week. We still do that now ,even though we see each other at church. I recently joined a Coffee Klatch club at a local library....all seniors, many men as well as women, some veterans, many church goers and we discuss all sorts of topics as well as what we have been reading.

If any of you have seen the Movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", focused on retired British seniors who take a trip to India,
one of the actresses, Maggie Smith says something about the future of seniors-saying something to the affect that- 'are we afraid of change or do we fear everything will always be the same'...... and I was struck by that....
I think some of us hate change as we age, but then again we have the power to change the sameness of every day, too, by taking chances, meeting new people, being on senior forums, and trying to make sure we have something to look forward to, every day- even if it is a little bit out of our comfort zone.

Your post was stated so well.
Take snippets of joyous moments and cherish them with all your heart. Basically…. Count your blessings cause things can always be worse.

I watched The Best Marigold Hotel. It was a good movie.

I live one day at a time sharing the live I have with my family which is shrinking. ( another topic )

My dog. Dogs are so lovely. They don't worry, just take things as they come and never hold grudges or make demands.
It's remarkable how doggies don't hold grudges like so many people do. There are some lovely people who don't and I applaud them for being wise and so loving!

Making mistakes is how we learn…….
…….. as well as others.
