Nine deaths in fire at Massachusetts assisted living facility

The facility was in Fall River. 50 to 80 fire fighters responded along with police to help get survivors out the building. The sprinklers worked because reports of soaked wet occupants. Cause undetermined at the time.

That reminds me of the facility I left last year where I would say 40% of the residents could not get out of that building without some sort of assistance God forbid we have a major fire.
 
I was in a PA. nursing home. We had monthly fire drills. At 3:30 AM, an alarm would go off. We never knew what day or time that thing would go off. It was so loud, even if you were deaf, you heard it. There also was bright flashing lights. We all had to be out of the nursing home and accounted for in, (I think it was) 10 minutes. If we didn't pass the fire drill, we would have to keep doing it till we passed.
The fire response in Mass. doesn't sound as organized as ours were.
 
According to the residents, the staff abandoned the building. Some were seen running out of the building into the parking lot. Gonna be some lawsuits over that, for sure.
