First Mobile Deposit

Today I received a small ($24.05) settlement check from my old Credit Union & since my pension financial accounts are across country from me I thought now would be a good time for a trial of a first-time mobile deposit. Had to take a photo with my tablet of both sides of the check & follow the instructions. The results were successful according to the screen. Went back to my active pension account & there it was. I'll find out on Tuesday the 21st whether it was indeed a win for me.

I LOVE mobile deposits. I will be glad when they can do actual mobile cash deposits. My son sent me cash today through the mail.. I more than likely will hold on to it as oppose to depositing it in my account and use it when I go to the grocery store.

My teenage daughters have been using this technology for years.

I still don't even know how to take a picture with my phone! Good for you for getting it done, @Roadwarrior.
Actually it was a lot easier than at first thought, especially after my attempt to take a pic of my driver's lis. for another issue last year. This was automatic after getting it framed & focused. Kept telling me to move back, forward. But once it was correct the site took it automatically.

Being OCD-paranoid I had trust reservations about the process. I've worked within tech for over 50 years, this was a first, taking photos is my weakest talent!

I love mobile deposit but I have trouble throwing away the check later. When I went through and disposed of my excess belongings last year, I had an envelope with several years of mobile-y- deposited checks. I think I put them in with the shred papers, but maybe they could just be throw away in regular trash?

Checked this AM, it's in pending status (normal - should post tonight). So may be OK. Used to save all my cancelled checks, got too many so I did shred them first, then bagged and dumped them.

I have had a banking app for three years and it is so convenient! Saves me going to the drive through, using deposit slips, etc. Take a photo of the check, sign the back, a minute later it's in my account.

I used to hold on to my checks for a little while too. I think it's psychological. Then I would finally shred them. Why in the world would you throw a check with your name and bank account number in the trash, especially when you have a shredder? Best to shred sensitive documents to prevent ID theft by those who do go through people's garbage.

I love mobile deposit. After i take the photos and click deposit, the site gives me an authorization number which I write on the back of the check. This helps remind me I’ve already deposited the check. I keep the paper check about a month then shred it.
