FixWin - a free fix it tool for Win 10 & 11

It looks like a handy tool, Rich, have you tried it,
is it any good?

I have had a look, they have no phone number or
address, listed, the only connections are through
the Internet, this makes me wary.
Mike.

I used it for a file explorer problem I'm experiencing. It didn't fix it completely but it helped. It didn't cause any issues either. For some reason my file explorer keeps defaulting to grouping by time. All of my files will be in order by - Yesterday, a week ago, a month ago, etc. It seems no matter how I adjust it back to no grouping, it goes back to "by time". My next attempt is to use "winsetview", this program is supposed to re-write the defaults. I attached a screenshot of FixWin.

I only use file explorer rarely, usually to transfer pictures from
my phone, Rich.

I keep all files in "My Documents", or in Windows 10 it is called,
"Documents", all files are directed there and they are grouped in,
type, PDF, Word, I also have downloads, My Pictures, My Music,
My Videos, etc., I made folders for them, everything that I save,
goes in there somewhere.

Mike.

Hey Mike, I might not have been completely clear in my earlier message. The "My Documents" folder is in fact part of File Explorer. The files I have stored there do not stay grouped the way I prefer, they keep defaulting to "grouped by time". It's quite annoying.

Actually, File Explorer is a way to view the files and folders on your PC. My Documents is one of those folders — but it's not "part of" File Explorer.

I suppose I wasn't clear in my response again. When Windows 11 is installed several default folders are installed in File Explorer. Including Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, and Videos. Consequently, my comment that they are part of File Explorer.

Rich, Here is a picture of the controls in my, "My Documents",
everything is grouped and the newest one is at the top, so you
will need to fix the groups, I think.

Hi Rich. Yes, I did understand what you meant.

The thing is, the default folders and files (and any other folders and files you may make) are on the computer's hard drive.

The File Explorer program is a way of viewing those files/folders. That does not mean that those files/folders are "in" File Explorer. That's why it's called "File Explorer" instead of, for example, "C Drive".
