Florida park ride seat was adjusted before 14-year-old boy fell to his death, accident report says.

A seat on a Florida amusement park ride that a 14-year-old boy fell to his death from last month was manually adjusted and unsafe, according to an accident report released Monday.

The sensors on two of the seats on the Orlando FreeFall had been modified so it could operate while those seats had openings almost twice as large as normal, according to a report from the forensic engineering firm hired by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to investigate the cause of the accident.

the question becomes...will the state initiate better regulations and oversight of amusement parks, or just let them run with what has been going on?

If there is not basic regulation and basic, consistent inspection of rides and procedures, these things will happen again and again...

But no one ever wants to spend enough money, to keep the public safe.

Because, it means, that "horrible" word to the public...taxes.

If we don't raise enough taxes to pay enough people to keep our society safe...these things will always happen.

The vast vast majority of these kinds of accidents are from neglect.

And, of course, this is why you don't pay a kid minimum wage to run an amusement park ride. You have to pay someone a decent wage, who is older and experienced.
