Florida women dressed up as 'grannies' to get COVID vaccine: officials

This "gran" scheme didn’t get very far…

Two Florida women dressed up as "grannies" in an attempt to get vaccinated against COVID-19, health officials said Thursday.

Their wacky getup included "the bonnets, the gloves, the glasses — the whole thing," said Dr. Raul Pino, the director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County.

Workers at the Orange County Convention Center vaccine site noticed the women "looked funny," and stopped them before they could get their shots, Pino said, according to WKMG-TV.

There had also been an issue with the IDs and driver’s licenses they provided, Pino noted.

The duo was coming for their second dose of the vaccine.

Pino said he didn’t know how they were able to get their first shot, and it’s unclear if they used the same ruse.

"I don’t know how they escaped for the first time," he said.

The incident was turned over to local authorities, who issued trespassing warnings to the women.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said one of the women was 44 years old and the other was 34 years old, local outlet WWL-TV reported.

In Florida, only adults ages 65 and up, health care workers and assisted living residents and staff are eligible for the vaccine.

Pino said the number of people trying to falsify their identities to get the shot is probably "higher than we expect."

Security has been ramped up at the vaccination site as a result, he said.

No-one can do that here. Only people who are regsitered with a doctor and therefore with an NHS number, which states age , ethnicity , name and address can have the vaccination
 
These p'sos name Olga Monroy Rameriez and Martha Vivian Monroy are selfish criminals who used fraudulent means to obtain a vaccine worth hundreds of dollars a dose. Wouldn't that be theft by deception let along with line cutting.

And they're young. Are they really that scared or do they need the vaccines for other activity. P'sos no matter how they put it.

this simply makes no sense.......
so if they were successful in getting first dose............ why would people not be more concerned about the protocol or lack of.. in those registering for the first dose......too many ??? come to mind......
i would think finding out how lax the process is should be a red flag .......

fake IDs are a crime.... if this shot given for "free"is really paid for by taxes ect then it would be theft at the very least..... If they thought their ruse was strong enough why go to the lengths of trying to dress old ........what ever that is....
why give this any coverage UNTIL people know the real story....

simply because people do NOT think about the details.............
i am assuming this "story" is meant to portray that younger people are SO desperate for this they will do anything to get it......trying to promote this is the hottest thing going.......

i am just baffled why so called " news" puts out things that when you ask questions makes no sense..... i guess i want to believe journalists ask questions ( i know they do not anymore) and if it not bad enough one group does it other " news" organizations pick this up and replay the nonsense again....
i just do not see what angle they are hoping this story provides.
 
The release of this video was obviously meant to be both a public shaming of these two women and a warning to others who might have the same plan.

Given the camera jiggling as the officer speaks to them, and the camera angles, the video footage appeared to be from a police body cam, not from a journalist.

According to the story:

"The local health department has been tasked with trying to discover where and how the women got their first dose, given the state's prioritization for the elderly.

A local official said the department will look to see "if there are any holes, any loopholes, in the process that are allowing people to do that."

Pretty sure the real story is an attempt to line cut. There might have been some prankish motives involved but to me this is theft by deception and committing fraud by lying on registration form. If they think they have a comorbidity or job deserving of that shot get the appropiate paperwork from the proper people.

My thing I think these two got caught think of the others that didn't. It's been obvious there have line cutters including snowbirds in Florida. I'm sure in every city this is going on to a certain extent.
