Incensed might be a good way to describe how my husband and I, retired less than a year, received the news from Johnston Group that our Follow Me Extended Health Care Plan fees were going up by 19.86% in February. The results of a little research reveals that this is the first year Johnston Group has offered this plan and they miscalculated the usage of the plan, so they have to raise their rates. Now we understand that Covid has impacted a lot of businesses but an industry insider has told us that the most the rates have ever been raised in the health insurance industry is less that 3%. If Johnston Group (who administers the Chamber of Commerce Extended Health Plan) had told us that this was a pilot year for this plan and that adjustments would be made in year 2 we could have made an informed decision. But there was no warning. We are NOT happy customers and unfortunately you only get one chance at a Follow Me plan. Use this information as you see fit, it is the result of many phone calls to the company and is true to the best of our knowledge based on what we were told.
