Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy is an American travel and food show which premiered on February 14, 2021, on CNN. The series follows Academy Award-nominee Stanley Tucci, who travels around Italy visiting each region and exploring their cultures, cuisine and history.The series received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series. It was renewed for a second season, which is set to premiere on May 1, 2022.

Yes. Laurie was talking about him the other day. Just so ridiculously sad. We aren't real foodies, per se, but we love all the shows. I was a prep cook, years ago...and I also worked in a couple of bakeries...so I do like to cook and play around with flavors and such. These days haven't had much of a chance.

One funky thing I did...I deep fried a Mallowmar!!! I like the quirky and weird, so I did actually do that. The crust was just some Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough...just balled that up around a Mallowmar and fried that thing.

Tasted amazing.

My liver sent over a letter of protest to my brain for that one. Then my liver jumped outside my body and did a one man protest, complete with protest signs. :)


Every so often Laurie will stare and me and just start softly chanting "Mallowmar, Mallowmar...Mallowmar."

A Deep Fried Mallowmar sounds like something I would have at the Texas State Fair when I go on a binge. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, exactly. I had been reading about that state fair stuff. Saw the Mallowmars in the cabinet. Saw the Pillsbury dough in the freezer. Saw the skillet. And that was it...I was off on a mission!!!

I love Stanley Tucci. I haven't seen the series but I'm definitely going to pull it up On Demand. I'll catch up on Season 1 before tuning into Season 2. Thanks for the heads up. You're obviously a fan so I'm sure you've seen Big Night! It's one of my all time favorite food movies.


@dseag2 - Tony Bourdain's death broke my heart. His TV series, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, ran from 2013 - 2018. That's not the only one, he had seven shows. He wrote cookbooks/crime novels long before he starred on TV. "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures In The Culinary Underbelly'', turned the culinary world on its ear. He not only tells how his love of food developed from early childhood but describes what really goes on behind the scenes of the professional culinary industry. It's quite an eye -opener. 😲 @dseag2 - I agree, he was a terrific story teller on film and in print. I miss him, too.

My husband loved Mallomars but deep fried? ... I dunno, lol. Jon, you're a culinary daredevil, lol!
