Food shortages we may see in 2021..video

I came across this video on You Tube, about possible food shortages we may see in 2021. Interesting about the corn. It will be interesting to see how accurate this becomes.

 

I have been reading on social media that it would be good to do at least some minimal stocking , enough to last a few weeks , just in case we have shortages.
We had a lot of companies that had to shut down because of the lockdown, and farms that raised food items also had to shut down, and some ended up throwing their food out last spring when it could not be delivered anymore.
California also had the fires and water shortages, so that stopped a lot of the vegetable crops and fruits that are grown in California.

I have been seeing a few empty shelves at the grocery, and even when shopping for groceries online, although nothing like we saw last spring.
Anyway, each time I shop, I have been buying a little extra of canned/dry foods that can store long term. I only buy things that we eat anyway, so if there are no shortages, it will all eventually get used.
Even if we never need it, I would rather have stocked up and be ready , than to have not stocked up and have something cut off our food supplies.
 
I have been noticing shortages of canned soups since the start. Especially broths, and cream soups, both of which I like having on hand for cooking. But I do not go overboard. Maybe 2-3 cans of each
 
I am not stocking up. I did that last time, a little, and it was hard to finish that food as I get bored with food except sweets 😂. I am eating TV dinners which I like and are good for me. The ones I am buying now have a full cup of veggies, more protein, and less sugar. OMG, I am reading labels, who would have thought? 😳

Currently there are no sweets in the house, we will see how long that lasts. But that 15 pounds weight gain of my husbands in 3 months, that’s got to end.
 
We've got some nasty weather moving in this week, so I made a quick run to the grocery store this morning for some basics, and the shelves were pretty much full....even TP. If there isn't a huge "holiday spike" in this virus, by mid January, there shouldn't be any need to stock up on anything. Some of the major cities may still have to restrict their people until enough people get vaccinated, but out here in this rural area, this virus has been more of an "inconvenience" rather than a crisis.

Our soup shelves have been nearly barren the whole time. And you are hard pressed to find anything besides Campbell's.

Bought a bunch of good quality canned soup when it was on sale for my husband who eats it. I don’t like canned soup.
 
Marie, that was a really interesting video. I never would have guessed at shortages of aluminum cans and carbon dioxide. Canned corn either. Well, I can do without both of those. We have a Cargill plant right by our house, produces ethanol and you can really smell the corn. You would swear you were right by a still. Don't know if they slowed their production down but guessing by the lights at night, I'm guessing not.
