Well Lee I have no idea!

All the countries of the United Kingdom of Great Britain each
heve their own Saint, Ireland St Patrick, the most well known,
Scotland St Andrew, England St George and Wales St David.

Maybe they were to give people something to focus on, or to
get another day off work, although a lot of "Holy Days" meant
that you attended church, then went to work afterwards.

I asked Google why do countries and got an answer, you can
have a look and pick the reason that suits you best.

Mike.

Thank you all.

Although I live in Scotland my given name is Morddwyd, which First appears in 1315, in The Mabinogion, a Welsh epic poem, "Morddwyd, Slayer of the Irish""(Some authorities give it as Mordred"

Oh! Mike! This is SO EXCITING! As I recently found out I'm a good part Welsh and a good part Irish, (which I never knew) anything I can find out about the Welsh is so fascinating to me! Thank you!!!
