For Those Who Disagree - Please Consider

Disagreement is an interesting phenomenon. Our research shows that, typically, the more someone is criticized for their opinion - EVEN WHEN GIVEN SOLID FACTS THAT DISPUTE IT - the stronger they hold to their opinion and refute the opposing opinion.

Interesting to think about:

ā€œDisagreement is one thing; disrespect is quite another.ā€ ~ Richard V. Reeves

ā€œWe sometimes agree with a statement until we get to the name of the person to whom it is attributed.ā€ ~ Mokokoma Mokhonoana

and this last quote is especially poignant to me as I lost a 30 year friend because I didn't vote for her candidate. How sad.

ā€œIt's okay to disagree with each other, what's not okay is to hate each other because we disagree.ā€ ~ Abhijit Naskar

I enjoy discussing a lot of hot topics, but when people start getting pissed because I don’t see it their way, I chalk it up to being narrowed minded, scared that they can’t defend their own position or want the focus on themselves. Why is it so important for me to see the universe the same way someone else does? Both parties have to be active listeners. It’s rather sad to converse with someone who thinks he or she has it all figured out.

I am more of a listener because of my background, so have no trouble listening. However, I find that most people are not simply wanting to be heard. They are wanting to force you to agree with them. :p And, yes, it is sad when people don't listen, but even sadder still when they get angry just because you disagree.

Wish I could do more than ā€œLikeā€ a post. Things won’t be universally right until this occurs. ☮

Well, the OP cartoon suggests that no one is ever wrong, just has a different point of view.

Both sides, of course, think they are right but in most cases one side is wrong.
