2 egg whites
3/4 cup sugar
1 (6-oz.) pckg. chocolate chips
1 (6-oz.) pckg. chocolate mint or raspberry chips
Food coloring if desired.

Beat egg whites 'till foamy. Add the sugar and choc. chips gradually. Drop by teaspoon on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until done (usually about 5 to 7 minutes). Turn off oven and leave cookies inside it all night. DO NOT open oven door 'till next morning. Makes about 3 dozen. What I used to do when making for the holidays was do half with the regular and the mint choc. chips and green food coloring, and the other half with the reg. & raspberry choc. chips and red food coloring. I can't eat these anymore (allergic) but boy are they good. Here's a pic (not by me) without food coloring:

Hope you get a chance to make if you'd like; they're scrumptious!

I've made them for years. My recipe says the girl scouts made them first. Not sure if that's true. With the different flavors of chips they have out now I make many different kinds.
Last year I found coffee chips and also mocha.
I still like the chocolate chips the best.
The best part for me is that they are gluten free and super easy to make.
Thanks for reminding me. I have to whip up a batch.

I never liked these. Maybe because of the egg whites. Don't like meringue either.

I don't know, but I'm wondering if it's the food color that you're allergic to.

We can't really get any different flavors of chips around here any more, just chocolate and the white ones. In fact, Huzz wants to make chocolate chip cookies this year and only ever wants to use Nestle's original Semi-Sweet choc. chips, has to be that exact kind or he won't make them, and they didn't even have Nestle brand or any other semi-sweet ones at the store yesterday, had Ghiardelli and a generic store brand. All our grocery stores around here have a lot of empty shelves.

@officerripley I know what you mean. You never know what shelves will be empty from week to week. Last week they had no salt. Luckily I still had some at home. These days I don't hoard but when something gets low I buy more.
Ghirardelli chips are good but I would never buy the store brand chips.
You still have a couple of weeks maybe they will restock.
