Fragrances

Now we have baths and water, thank goodness. During olden days and medieval times people didn't bathe, thinking it would hurt them somehow to bathe and lose their skin, LOL, and had to rely on perfumes and powders (i.e. Louis the 14th). Imagine the stench! afoul is right! I think people are cleaner now then they were when I was a kid. Most people shower every day at least.

I don't think the medieval times issue applies. Most people should use soap and water and bathe/shower every day, but not everyone does. Also, after physical exertion, working all day, or just sweating a lot a person often needs a shower or at least a sponge bath. And some people wear clothes that needs to be washed/cleaned.

There used to be an older lady in my church who wore so much of an Estee Lauder fragrance (I think it was called Youth Dew) that it would positively gag you. I got stuck right behind her at a funeral once and got positively dizzy. It was a very heavy, cloyingly sweet sent -- AWFUL!

I remember Youth Dew - it was STRONG.
Another one was Opium. whew

Eternity - another one that became nauseating (too many people wore way too much of it).

Men's fragrances - in addition to Old Spice, I've always liked Aqua Velva and Mennen Skin Bracer. :)
