Free x-ray to diagnose mesothelioma

Received a letter today (addressed to "resident") from what appears to be a law firm offering to do free x-rays to high-risk individuals (i.e. industrial workers exposed to risk factors). If it's a legit law office, why do they have to go out fishing for cases?

Because they make boatloads of money off of these cases. They want the case before other lawyers get it. That X-ray is probably a lot cheaper lead generation than the tv ads I see.

As Michael Z said, BOATLOADS of money to be made off the cases. When you see an article about a "settlement" of a big class-action suit you can bet your boopie that most of that money got soaked up by the law firms before the claimants ever saw a penny of it. And "pennies" is what they'll see....
