Freezer Burn On Meat

I recently had to deal with some chicken that was freezer burned... no hole or anything, just too long in the freezer. I *really* wanted to use it because I hate waste of any kind with a passion, but the taste gags me (eeeew, graphic, Kate! 🤮) so I ended up tossing it. I hope you're able to salvage at least some of your steak!

I agree. My husband eats a lot of meat and sometimes some pot roasts might get freezer burn for sitting in the freezer to long. While still frozen he cuts off the burned part, throws it away and then uses the other part in a slow cooker with potatoes and assorted vegetables. It’s actually perfectly fine.

Freezer burned vegetables I toss.

Before when freezer burn was present I'd cut off the burned section & either grind whatever protien it was or cut it up for soups or stews.

Didn't like wasting food so thought we'd try this.

Works as advertised & the sealed food comes out like it was just bought.

I use our Foodsaver all the time when we buy in bulk. If I have something with bones that I think might poke through, I fold up wax paper & put over the bones & then seal. I also use the canister attachment for sealing jars too. I'm on number three after wearing out the others.
