My best friends are females. I have one old and current good friend that is a male but over the years females have been better friends for me. My own sex is too full of BS and ego to appeal to my needs for friendship. My best friend of all time is a very successful Gay female that I hired in the early 80's. She and her partner are still one of my best friends.
 

Most of my friends are female too, love my gal pals. I would love to have close male friends, mostly the ones I've started out as friends with they always end up trying to date bed me or being jealous of my actual dating relationships and that's all very disappointing. I liked the friendship as a platonic hanging out kind of thing. Just recently, thought I was finally friends with a guy and then he had the nerve to say the girlfriend space is open. WTH. And believe me, I'm nothing to write home about where looks are concerned, maybe when I was under 40 I had some moments, but definitely not now and it still happens.

So Lon, what's the secret of your platonic friendships with women? Internet friendships don't count, those I can sustain with either gender.
 
I read once a guy can be friends with a girl if one or the other finds the other repulsive...
 

I think it's a good thing Lon, very personal preference, whatever works for you just go with it, it's the person, not the gender. :)

With all due respect, I think it is the gender and not the person. I don't know if it is a hormonal thing or what, but women are much more open and honest about many things than most men.

Surely you jest. :lofl: I have some great girlfriends, but some of us are true demon folk as some men are great friends to their male buddies.
 
Some of my best friends are all gay men...different ages, including some 'oldies' like me! :) I usually...not always... prefer them over female friends. Actually, my best friends are family members.

I don't think 'repulsive' would work, however it's probably true that they could be good friends if there was no interest in each other as potential partners.
