Frozen Vegetables

I usually buy the plain 10-12 ounce steam in the bag vegetables.

I follow the package directions and nuke them for 5-6 minutes with good results.

The Brussels sprouts from Aldi have mixed results and some brands of broccoli are mostly tough stems, but overall they are a good value for me.

I pretty much do the same. I usually get the 1lb bags and throw them in the Radar Range for five minutes. Mmmm Brussel sprouts.

Edaname, I put in bowl w/a little water, cover w/saran wrap, then in the microwave for abt 7mins. Drain, then drizzle some oil and salt on them and eat.
I’ve found a bag of frozen edamame to be one of the most useful frozen vegetables to keep on hand. I take only what is needed from the bag and steam. Or drop straight into a pot of soup.

I love fresh okra - an acquired taste for many - and always considered frozen okra to be avoided at all cost. But I placed whole frozen okra pods in a steamer briefly for my mother who also loves okra. She thought they were pretty good.

I‘ve had good luck freezing a bumper crop of bell peppers I grew. Halved and seeded them, washed and let fully dry before placing in plastic bag and freezing. Take out one or two pieces as needed for soups, stir fry, or casserole.

I usually by the ones still in the pod. For the drizzle of oil and salt.

But, I do prefer the loose ones for my grains and veg salads.

p.s. i like okra too.

The popular frozen vegetables I use are the mixed vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots) and I've used them in soups, spaghetti sauce, or steamed and flavored with lemon juice and a pat of butter.

I avoid corn because it's genetically modified. I'll only buy organic corn.

I also buy frozen sliced peppers that I can add to meals.

Frozen spinach is great with onions and feta cheese when making spanakopitas (Greek spinach pies). Yum!
