Gall Bladder Removal- Serious Repercussions

Our friend in Indiana, Vonda, had her gall bladder removed last summer. Several days after going home she began experiencing serious abdominal pain. Subsequent
hospitalization and treatment have not provided a lasting solution. Now, the medicos are blaming "C-Diff", and prescribing Metronidazole.

My check on this indicates infection with a bacterium which produces fungus spores.

Any info would be appreciated! imp

Clostridium Difficile is very common. Usually folks contract it after a long treatment with antibiotics. The antibiotics kill the good bowel flora and C-diff takes over and runs rampant. It produces a toxin which can cause a condition called pseudomanbranous colitis. if left untreated, it can turn your bowels into swiss cheese necessitating a bowel resection (removal) and a colostomy. Not a real good thing to get, but rest assured... she didn't get this from having her gallbladder removed..

C Diff is considered a nosocomial infection (acquired while in the hospital). It has just about surpassed MRSA as the top one. She could have picked it up while in the hospital for her gallbladder removal. Is she on probiotics? They help some people with C Diff

more than likely she picked it up at the hospital... because a hospital is full of sick people... not well people... the fact that she may have had her normal intestinal flora knocked out by an antibiotic, or she may have been in a weakened state, left a place for cdiff to flourish.
