One day, out of the blue, my father told me "you know all about booze and alcoholism but you've never seen anybody who's really sick until you've seen a sick gambler. That put the fear in me. I've never gambled.
I worked with three degenerate gamblers. Two of them lost everything.
I'm watch ad after ad after ad for online betting and I think of my father's words.
60 Minutes and other news venues are starting to address the coming storm.
Gambling addicts are going to be a serious drain on our society. It has already begun.

They want to build a casino in Times Square, and/or Coney Island. I think it's a big mistake.

I’m not sure that any one addiction is worse than another.

We’ve had card carrying addicts for just about anything that you can imagine in my family over the years and they have all taken their toll.

I’m confident that someday a drug will be found that helps to control the rush that addicts of all sorts experience.

I think that some of the smoking cessation drugs like Chantix and the weight loss drugs like Mounjaro are examples of things to come in the field of addiction management.

My ex was a gambling addict. She constantly lied- even about stupid stuff. If she said she ate breakfast, without actually seeing her eat it, she was probably lying. She had a secret life, which she hid from everybody. All she wanted to do was gamble. If she hit it big, all that meant to her was more money to gamble with. If she won $1 million @ 8PM; in a few hours, she'd have gambled it away.
Like drug addiction, gambling addiction gets worse and worse. It gets more and more out of control.
