Gas Explosions

Once again, on the evening news, there was a report of a major house explosion...most likely caused by a leak in a Natural Gas or Propane pipe, or appliance. It seems that hardly a week goes by, this time of year, without a similar report. When these happen, it often takes lives, and destroys surrounding houses. When Winter weather pushes these gas supplies and furnaces to their limits, any weakness in the system can quickly become a disaster. If anyone uses these fuel sources, it is Wise to have them thoroughly inspected annually for any potential problems....especially if the house is several years old. We had Natural gas in our house when we lived in the city, and the local gas company would send an inspector to the house....free...every 2 years, or anytime there was the slightest hint of a leak...odor, etc.

Home builders frequently take shortcuts to save money. I just spent $11,000.00 to replace a gas line that was under my house's foundation. It was not only completely rusted because it was the wrong type of steel for under ground, it was the wrong diameter & wasted lots of gas.
It was installed by the construction company that added a second level on the house & they just used whatever extra piping they had. They figured "It's buried 4 feet down....who's gonna know?"
And, of course they're not in business any more.
