I always find late fall/early winter to be somewhat of a sad time, because we watch the ducks and geese congregate in large flocks on remaining lakes, ponds, and open water, knowing they're getting ready to fly away for the season.

Deb. Do you know if this portion of the Hudson, freezes over in the winter?

Yes it does. That's why it was named 'Stillwater', because the river water doesn't flow too fast here and allows it to freeze over.

Be a treat to watch all of the returning birds in the spring.
