Like most data and bases this will be open to abuse or theft. Also there privacy guidelines that allow people to opt out with even tighter regulations in Europe.
One of the biggest privacy issues with the genetic and family history companies is that non participating non consenting third parties/blood relatives wind up losing privacy. Family history sites give things locations, birth dates, maiden names which can be used for ID theft or stalking. Genetic information gives alot of blood relative information which might be used for future insurance and/or medical decisions. It's not just about the over used platitude I have nothing to hide. Why serve up one's privacy on a silver platter if it is not necessary.
If one must use these sites remember to opt out.
