Getting back up independently after taking a fall. Sometimes in works, and other times not...

I will be per Doctor suggestion, attending a class for Seniors on how to independently get back up after a fall.
Over my years and three significant falls for one reason or another, I have been able to assist myself back up
and safely to my feet. Two other times I required assistance....

I have this problem too. I have a certain chair that helps me get up but if I would fall outside I'd have to figure out something different. Maybe there's a class like that here. Another thing for my list. :)

I was in the park a couple of winters ago and the snow was pretty deep on the grassy areas and back trails, but they weren't as treacherous as the slippery sheet of ice of the surrounding roads. This older man who came there often said he walked along the road one day to avoid the deep snow, and he ended up falling and couldn't get up. Luckily for him due to the weather there wasn't much traffic from visitors. He said he ended up rolling slowly to the side of the road and onto the snowy/weedy area before he could get enough footing to stand up again.

An older friend of mine said she fell in her home and couldn't get up again, but was able to roll over to her couch and use that to assist her.

I've been lucky so far, I don't fall very often and have always been able to get back up on my own.

Probably a good idea for us all.

A couple of years ago my wife got tripped by the dog and badly injured both hands and wrists. And I was out of town. She had a real hard time getting up, even harder trying to use the phone to call for help. Suddenly losing the use of both hands is tough, but it happens.

Helping daughter with heavy Christmas boxes, I missed a step and end up in a pile under the box. I've been sore ever since. Three months is what it'll take to recover.

I had to catch my breath first after daughter shifted the box off of me. The box is in solid pine wood. Then once feeling the strength returning, I went on all fours, holding onto banister and back garden door handle, I slowly got back to my feet.

Assessing the damages and pain levels, I climbed the stairs on the all four and repeated the process, hanging on to indoor handle. After checking for blood, thankfully none was found, daughter helped me to bed. Took an Ibuprofen gel capsule, used FireHeat rub where I was sore and slept quite comfortably on memory foam mattress.

It was hazardous for a few days but as we'd finished going out for the Holidays, I recovered within a fortnight. When we did go out, I used my cane as usual and walked a wee bit slower 🤣🤣🤣.
