The small ones are great bait for saltwater sheepshead. Just anchor next to bridge pylons and fish to the bottom.

Mama loves lobster and any edible crab (me not so much it's just more work than it's worth in my opinion) and when I showed her the above pic she darn near started salivating......looks like I'll be buying a couple of live lobster for her today.

Nice looking crab! Mom used to make steamed crab, Japanese style. It was delicious.

What kind of crab? And as others have asked can you eat it?

Here on the Eastern Shore we eat Blue Crab, hard shell made in Old Bay seasoning. If you ever have any of these, you won’t be disappointed. I like the claws and back fin. What I don’t like is all the picking and digging to get the meat out.

I once had pet Fiddler Crabs! They were pretty cool till they all killed each other!

These called Brown Crabs - or Edible Crabs

This one was only about 2in wide though.

The adults usually grow to about 15cm but can get as big as 25cm!

When I were a lad, the local lobster fishermen regarded crabs caught in their creels as a nuisance and would give them away. Same with dogfish. Now you have to pay good money for edible crabs. I really like them, but they are fiddly to prepare.
