Getting Jobs

Do you believe it's easier to get a job today then will say at least 18 years ago? Does having modern technology like tablets, cell phones, computers and articles in newspapers and magazines etc make it easier to get jobs?

I was lucky that the last five jobs I had "fell in my lap". I followed a boss around as she went to new companies for the first three. When she left the area, I was recruited by another former boss to his company. When that company was sold and he left, I stayed on in my job.

Right after I retired, I was called by boss #2 to come to work with him in the company he had just started. Nope. I knew better.

I haven't had to do a resume for 30 years. It's just been "Y'all just c'mon over on Monday and set a spell at th' desk!"

My "side hustle" for a couple of years was helping a friend with her side hustle.

Absolutely.

Only to the extent they contribute to the economy. Without a strong economy jobs will be harder to find, and all the "modern technology like tablets, cell phones, computers" won't help... The underlying laws of economics have not changed.

I was in Cincy once, out of work and low on money, so I took
jobs thru labor centers...while setting waiting to be called I took
a look at the job part of the paper, saw one that wanted a clerk
warehouse person at a paint business, gave a phone num to call.....so I took the big, fat, yellow pages and started searching...took awhile but I found the number and address...
So I took off walking to the paint store, wasn't too far away,
walked in, told guy I was applying, he asked if I had app't, I said no, he sez then how u know about us.....told him how I found out about them, and was hired on the spot!!! they
liked my initiative......

Some businesses only advertise job openings online, and most of them post the job applications as well. Apparently, it's cheaper than publishing newspaper ads and printing out reams of applications.
