Getting really frustrated with local supermarket

Most of the time I shop for groceries at the supermarket in the next town (there is no food store in my town other than convenience stores) I can never find all the items I want. It looks like either they are out of stock or have discontinued things. Today it was store brand French toast, wheat and corn chex cereal, quart-sized vanilla low fat yogurt, seedless raspberry jelly, crispy rice cereal and cartons of 6 count eggs. It almost looks like they are gradually doing away with their store brand items.

I shop at Kroger (Frys here) and it seems like they're slowly getting rid of name brands and replacing with their brand and generics. On the other hand, what I have trouble finding is Tofu, it's either not there or they keep moving it around. Like @C'est Moi said, probably not too many people buy it, but I'm not going to go to an Asian store just for Tofu.

What I don't like about most stores (including grocery stores) is the horrible music. Some sounds like a cat with its tail stuck in the door. It really is awful!
I heard somewhere that they put subliminal messages in the music, like "don't shoplift" or "you're really hungry and want to buy a LOT" etc. It used to be true in the olden days. I don't know about now.

Well, it's a good thing I can't hear, they can't hypnotize me! o_O

The only "subliminal" message I ever get from that awful music is hurry up, grab what you came for & get out of that awful store ASAP. Don't buy anything that you didn't plan; just get out while you are still sane! A week ago I was in this "No frills" store & the song they played was "I got My Love to Keep Me Warm" which has a terrible ending. A week later I came back there & guess what song they were playing? You got it! Take about BORING!

For the past few years Walmart has been purging items that did not meet certain sales criteria. Many other supermarkets have followed. In some cases they will substitute store brands. Many items are simply dropped from the stock never to be seen again. Local shoppers are forced to shop multiple stores to find the items they want or go online.

The latest supermarket annoyance is the crowding of the isles with order pickers and stockers. At Walmart and Kroger I have found some of the aisles so crowded with both that I could not get down the aisle. At one time stores stocked almost exclusively at night. Today store stockers are adding to the traffic jam during the times most shoppers are present.

I'll second everybody who hates it when markets deliberately crowd aisles with stupid promotional displays. It's very annoying.

My life is much less stressful now that I have 90% of my groceries delivered. The frustration of (sometimes) not getting what I ordered is worth not having to listen to bad music and put up with the way stores like to "hide" brands that aren't their own store brand, or haven't paid extra for "up front and visible" display on the shelves. Ugh!

I do my shopping at Shop Rite in New Jersey
Lately I noticed they are slowly changing the name of their own brand and the prices are going up as well.

I also can't find products that they use to carry.

The music drives me crazy also. The women singers do sound like cats on a fence all in heat and as Packerjohn said, you want to get out as soon as possible.

During the summer its the air conditioning. They have it so cold you need to bring your sweater when it's 100 degrees outside. They have so many people trying to figure out selling tactics and yet they overlook these annoying distractions.
