what can i use to get rid of fox? i have problems
with them every year---

A man's urine sprayed around the garden will get rid of them,
I tried it last year before the cubs are born.

Mike.

When we first moved to the country, we had several cute little red foxes hanging around. They used to follow me around as I was working outdoors....staying at a respectable distance, and just watching like a curious little puppy. Then, several of the neighbors started raising chickens...and that isn't compatible with foxes. Between shotguns and .22 cal. rifles, the foxes have virtually disappeared from our area. I saw one, last Fall, for the first time in 5 or 6 years.

I agree with you Mike. I haven't had trouble with foxes, but when we go camping my husband will urinate around the perimeter of our site to keep the animals away. We do have problems with coyotes coming up to our back fence at home, and I asked him to fill an empty juice bottle so I could pour it in places outside our yard fence....but so far he hasn't been cooperative. :D

There are trappers that sell coyote urine for that purpose.

Dollie, I'd also like to know what kind of problem you're having with the fox.

I always feel bad for wildlife when humans decide to destroy their home then blame the wildlife for trying to survive in spite of us.

We had a guy do some work on our house when we moved here. We loved the location because it was right next to a state park. He told us he moved here from the city because he wanted his children to be near Nature. To get to know about the faun of fauna of this area. He moved right next to a county park. A year later the county sold the park to, what some people call, a developer. The developer destroyed the forest to put up condo's. The guy told us the only wildlife his kids got to see after that were displaced and dead animals all over the place.

We love living next to the park. The wildlife are the best neighbors. All they need is a little food and a little shelter for their family to survive

The Bronx zoo has a mirror at the entrance. You can't get in there without standing for a moment in front of that mirror. At least it used to. I haven't been there in years. Underneath is a sign that reads, "You're looking at the most dangerous animal in the world." I have to agree. No other animal kills just for fun except humans. Even then they have to depend on man made weapons to do that. We all know who the loser will be if it's a battle between a human and a bear and the human doesn't have a weapon.

I Like Foxes!

Up here in the High Desert we have Kit Foxes, as well as Kangaroo Rats, Coyotes, Bobcats, and Mojave Greens.

We have no Crows, but we have their big brothers, the Ravens, as well as the migratory Turkey Vultures with their 6-7 foot wing span.

The Ravens hop right up on your front porch and eat the snacks put out for stray cats.

Their raucous voice makes a Crow sound like a purring kitten!

Ravens and Desert Tortoises are protected by California Laws.

That's all.....

hey patty pan the fox are coming up in the yard barking at us we dont know whether they have rabies or not and they also get in the small garden my daughter has---my granson works late at night at you can see their eyes glaring in the dark--i also heard where they can dig under your house and chew on your electrical wires

Hello Dollie! I'm sure you've seen that a million times but I just couldn't help myself. Sorry.

Usually a fox will bark to warn other foxes this is their space. They'll also bark to warn predators (like humans) to stay away from their young or to ask a mate if they'd like to go out on a date this evening. A 'private property' sign means nothing to them. If they're going in the garden their looking for prey like bunnies, birds or other small animals. They're not looking for beans, carrots, or humans.

I guess they could go under your house and chew on your wires but your neighbor could also do that and it's highly unlikely...I hope. Fox are more afraid of you than you are of them. They've built their own home so they don't need to enter yours. They don't eat wires. They'd prefer something warmer and softer. The eyes you're seeing at night could be a fox or two but it also could be another nocturnal animal. We see raccoon eyes out there at night. We can tell when they have youngster with because some eyes are lower than others. So cute.

If they have rabies they'd look sick and probably hiding out instead of barking at you. Remember, you're bigger than them, they don't feel good, it's better to avoid you than be in your face. Besides, they'll probably be dead soon anyway if they have that horrible disease.

I hope you find a humane way to solve your problem, Dollie. Or, at least a way to live in peace and harmony with these beautiful little Beings of Light.
