Earlier today I was reading the business section
of a newspaper that claimed that one of the 100
top companies here, Centrica, their shares had
fallen from 310 pence in 2015 to 73.4 pence on
the 31st July, I also read that Greggs that well
knows sausage roll seller's shares had gone down
5.6% to 2,239 pence, this I found amusing and I
decided to check online.

Probably about 11 AM I asked for UK Share Prices
where I confirmed that the articles were true about
those two companies.

At 12.45 I got a call on my landline from a strange
mobile number, a lady with an Asian accent asked
for me by name, when I asked "who are you", she
gave me the name of a share trading company, I
told her that I was not interested, she said "You
were a short time ago when checking share prices
in the UK".

That was when I hung up.

Cold calling is illegal here.

Use Duckduckgo...it doesn't track you...

I don't like it when companies pretend to "give" you a service, when the goal of that supposed service is to mine detailed information about you. And the business model of that company isn't to provide a service, but to sell that information about you to the highest bidder. I find it disgusting to provide a "service", supposedly to bring people together, or to find information is just a ruse to get more detailed info about you. Those companies claim that everything is well explaned in the "Terms Of Service". But knowing full well that most are never going to read page after page of legalese. It's that corporate disrespect for us.

I've known they were spying on me for quite awhile. After I have looked at specific items online to buy I have gotten ads on facebook of the same exact things. I was mad at first but have gotten used to it. Maybe I should still be.

There should be a button on online ads saying, "Too late. I already got what I needed."

Facebook is bad for that, so is Amazon!!

I've been clearing my cache after every browsing session. Only takes seconds, and I don't get any ads.
One thing that puzzles me...just recently, certain shopping sites won't allow you to view their products until you have given them your e-mail address. Needless to say...I've found myself another site. Don't these companies realise that they may be losing a sale?

Rosemarie, doesn't your Email allow you to have a "Throw Away" Email address?
Most do and you could use that, then ditch it afterwards, then it will bounce when
they try to use it

If I look up something as simple as a dog food brand online, that company will have ads following me on every webpage I visit, including music videos I watch. (n) But like you, I've gotten used to it and don't let it bother me.
