Got a Ceiling Fan From Home Depot? Blades can detach, leading to recall.

Between April and October of this year, 182,000 Americans and 8,800 Canadians purchased a particular ceiling fan at Home Depot or on its website. Now, those thousands are being asked to return them for a fairly scary reason: The blades can detach, NBC News reports. The company that makes the fan has received 47 reports so far of that happening, including two in which a person was hit by a blade and four in which property was damaged.

Agree with Aunt Marg. I heard this on the radio this morning. They don't make things to last, just to make money. Scary though on this happening with these fans.

Where were they made, I wonder?
I recently bought a tin opener when just fell apart the first time I tried to use it. I presume there was a screw missing somewhere. Made in China of course, as so many of our cheap products are these days.

About a hundred years ago when I worked at the Chamber of Commerce, a fan blade detached and by the merest stroke of luck, missed me and a stained glass window. Yikes!
