So, I went to the grief group today, and had a good meeting. Got home to see a letter from the Nursing Home that Rick was at before he died. I guess every year they do a memorial service for all residents who have died in past year. Family and staff are invited to attend.
I am a but torn. I have not been to the nursing home since the day he died, when I went to pick up his belongings. I am not sure if this will open any wounds up. Kind of wish I had gotten the letter before going to my group, to get input.
I did "move up" in the group. My first few visits were for newcomers to group. I am now in the second step, for those who have been attending a while. I think it is good, because most of the folks there have had their loss for a year or more, so it is good to hear their perspectives on all the "first year" anniversaries".

I was going to suggest attending with someone

Also a lot of suppprt groups have long time
Members who are available for a phone call if a newer member is in crisis or needs help. If your group offers this or even if it’s jist that you have contact info for a more seasoned member you might want to call and ask for some advice.

That would be like visiting the nursing home that my father was in when he passed away. I could never go back there it would rip my heart out of my chest. But I am the hypersensitive type. But it would be nice if you could thank the staff for caring for your dear husband perhaps maybe a gift to be sent to them I’d hate to see you suffer but then maybe it would be a little different for you. I wish you all the best

I think that would be a hard decision for me too Marie, it would be nice if you decided to go to have a friend there with you. I doubt I could ever handle the loss of my husband and being on my own as well as you have, I admire you and think of you often.....hugs. 💙
