I got a letter from the Social Security Administrtin yesterday thanking me for my recent submission of my change of address. The letter stated it was sending it to my >old address"..meaning where I have lived for the last year and a half. I am totally confused. I am on hold right now with the SS office. I want to make sure it is not a scam, or possible ID theft. I will let you know what they say

OK..here is the scoop. last month I was checking my account online and realized I had not updated my phone number, so I did that. Turns out SSA files it under "change of address" and acknowledges it that way.

SIGH
good news sure sounded like something else was going on... glad you got it figured out.

Is there a S.S. office you can go to? Bring all your letters regarding your change of address and talk to someone face to face.

I have to compliment the SSA. Before they do anything, they will always send you a letter. Years ago, I got a letter from them saying I had changed my wish for direct deposit to having my checks sent to some address in Ohio ( I'm in PA.) I called them and they stopped that, and put a hold on my online account. Then I got the letter saying this is what they did. I'm glad things worked out for you, Marie5656.
