Got an email scam

Just got an email. Apparently I bought $344.00 worth of bit coins from Binance Corp on my PayPal account. And the transaction will go through in 24 hours.
The email looks official.
But if I want to cancel the order I have to call an 806- xxx-xxxx.

Two things
#1, I never had a PayPal account
#2, I think PayPal can afford to get an 800 number, rather than an "806" in some town in Texas. They just wanted me to call and blab over my account number.
Just to make sure called PayPal, and no, I don't have an account.

I had a scam phone call today. The man asked me to confirm my name. I answered by asking who he was. He mumbled. He replied he was calling on behalf of my bank. I asked him which bank. No answer. I said sarcastically would you like my PIN number and account details? No no he said. Again he asked my name. I said I never heard who that person is.
Then I told him if he ever calls this number again I will refer to the police. End.

I suppose I just wasn't in the mood!

I've had PayPal phone scams before. Like you, I don't have a PayPal account. I don't like or trust PayPal (they were hacked into about 15 years ago. I just ignore it.

I get so many emails and phone calls that are like y’all’s. Unless the number is on my contact list, it goes to voicemail, followed by deletion thereafter. Emails are tagged to spam. They do make it all seem so real and I can understand how some do get taken advantage of. Guess it’s our version of snake oil and highway robbery.

Periodically I get emails thanking me for my order and telling me to click on a link to see something. I don't recognize the sender and the only orders I had placed were with Amazon or Chewy, so I just sent those emails to Trash.
I never even open an email that looks strange. I never return phone calls where I don't know the sender or recognise the number. I never even answer the house phone straight off, I let the answer machine do it first. Saves a lot of nonsense!

Jeez, I get so many scam emails. I have several accounts, and one of them is inundated. I don't read them, and have "rules" in place that automagically moves them to DELETED.

They do these things because they work!

I got a text yesterday asking if I made a charge at Walmart for $509. Tap this link if you did not make this purchase.
Ummm no. A quick google and the phone# was from Texas and the web address was associated with a company in Nambia.
