I got an e-mail that said I had a message at my Social Security Account page. So, I logged in to see a letter that spelled out exactly the 5.9% increase in dollars. HOWEVER, it only gave me the increase on my spousal benefit so it came to $231 with no deduction for Medicare. My monthly payment is more than that.
I checked my husband's account page and his letter has his new FULL amount as well as the new deduction amount for Medicare ($170.10-Yikes!).
So, I called. I waited less than an hour - they're busy, I got it and was patient. The woman who finally took my call said that was an incomplete letter and that we would both be getting paper letters in the regular mail some time between now and the end of January that will spell it out completely. She assured me that I would also be getting an increase on MY own Soc. Sec. amount as well as the spousal and she did see the new Medicare amount being deducted. I thanked her and assured her that I only called to make sure my payment was coming out and it wasn't a glitch.
So - if yours also looks incomplete - don't panic. Make the call to confirm if you need to but they are crazy busy.
