Gov. Newsom Declares Monkeypox "State of Emergency"

Unlike Covid, I haven't heard of any lab work on Monkey-pox, other than development of a vaccine. Anyhow, so far it looks like the early days of Aids -- primarily an STD. Of course that may change.

Neither have I. But when did we hear about it regarding Covid?
After someone is that lab in Wuhan leaked that information. Not before. There was no public announcement when they started that research on Bat's, there are no public announcements regarding any of those types of research (experiments).

Monkey-pox has been around for quite awhile ...
"The first human cases of the monkeypox disease were recorded in the 1970s in the Democratic Republic of Congo. From 1970 to 1986, there were over 400 recorded cases in humans located in Zaire, which accounted for most of the cases, as well as in Liberia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Sierra Leone. The disease was confined to African countries for a while.
However, the first monkeypox outbreak occurring outside Africa occurred in the United States in 2003, particularly in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, as well as in New Jersey. Experts traced the outbreak from an animal-to-human transmission. To be specific, the disease came from a prairie dog that got the virus from infected animals imported from Africa."

There are even stories of Egyptian mummies that appear to have succumbed to a pox like disease. Fortunately, it is nowhere near as contagious as Covid. The bulk, but not all, of recent cases seem to have been concentrated in MSM -- men who have sex with men.

"(CNN)The vast majority of cases in the growing monkeypox outbreak are among men who have sex with men, according to the World Health Organization. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus advised members of this community Wednesday to limit their exposure to the virus by reducing their number of sex partners and reconsidering sex with new partners."
