Greedy Disney is Trying to Get Spectrum to Pay Excessive Transmission Fees

Still love 50's & 60's music!
Disney withdrew all of it networks from the Spectrum lineup. I noticed 9 networks that went black. Mostly sports and movie channels.
ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network (sports)
FX, FXX, FXM, Freeform (movies)
Disney Channel
National Geographic.

Spectrum recently raised their rates for the same reason. They admit that is the reason that they increase their rates.

Suddenly Lose ESPN and ABC? Here's What Going on Between Disney and Spectrum

Oh my gosh, that's a wide swath of programs, that many people with limited options in what they can do in daily living,
have been enjoying!
And people do pay, for the access, but are suddenly without it?!
:oops::(

I don't. When they raised their rates earlier this year, they gave the excuse networks were raising their transmission fees. So they had to pass it on to their customers. Now greedy Disney who bought up all of these networks to make money, wants to raise their transmission fees higher, to make cable companies pay them even more money, so Spectrum will have make their customers pay even more money. Don't get me wrong, Spectrum is no angel here. They have raised their rates before. But Disney is just making things even harder for us customers, especially us older ones.

I think cable owners such as Comcast, Spectrum, etc. have all become very greedy. I think with streaming becoming very popular, they may have a feeling their days are about over. I read in the WSJ that Comcast blamed their raise on the movie makers wanting a bigger take. To that, I say b.s.

We all get paid for doing our job, but movie stars and makers, like Paramount and MGM want paid over and over each time a movie of their’s is reran on cable. And Disney, they are a whole different story. Ever since the days after Walt Disney’s death, it appeared to me that they had become very greedy.

Disney made the comment not too long ago that they were losing money. They are being disingenuous. They just weren’t making the huge royalties they were making. When they started their own cable channels, they quickly added up profits. Disney gas very little to none competition. Maybe Iger should consider taking a cut in his bonus.

I use a ledger to keep track of past and future bills. In 1996, I paid 123.00 for a whole year of programming on the big dish. At that time, there was actually good stuff to watch.

My cable bill went up $6 from last month and I'm not getting many channels I used to watch. I am also losing my "promotional discount" soon. I don't know how much the bill will shoot up after that expires. Spectrum doesn't offer a senior discount, either.

The old story - paying more and more for less and less.
