While reading the grocery ads...saw Ground Bison meat..on sale??...for $9.99@#.

Wow! Is that rich? Or what? Or not?

Has anyone ever had/made anything with/ tasted?

Let's hear it!🤗

I’ve seen it in a butcher shop and restaurants. Doesn’t appeal to me so I didn’t try it.

I buy it regularly. Different brands taste a little different; there's one which is (for lack of a better word) more 'tangy' than the others - probably due to their particular feed/variety of grass, as most bison brands I've had access to are usually marked "grass fed". I like to mix it half and half with a good quality ground chuck.

The beef in CA is astoundingly mediocre to this Midwest-raised lady.

The best steak is from red deer. Beats any beef you can buy! There's a few ranches in the US that raise them for retail sales.

I eat bison a lot, it is more expensive than beef, but better for you. Lower fat. The taste is not a lot different from beef, I can't really tell a bison burger from beef. In a steak it is a little easier, but still about the same, just leaner. No gamey taste.

I find that if I watch it does go on sale from time to time, and sometimes the nearly outdated packages are marked down. We also have a restaurant near by that specializes in bison. Its what I always order there. They will sell you some of their frozen stock, but its not any cheaper.

I still call it buffalo, but it really is bison, and the bison marketers are now encouraging people to call it bison. Problem is actual Asian buffalo is often sold here legally called buffalo. They want to distinguish American bison from Asian buffalo. I think Asian buffalo is also fine, but prefer our bison.

Tried it once, didn't care for the texture. Like chicken better. I opt for pork over beef, less fat, lower cholesterol, tastier (personal choice).
