I can't figure out why guardianship "woes" would be worse in Las Vegas than anywhere else. Could it be that there are a lot of elderly folks with gambling addictions that have put themselves in such financial trouble that their children have to take control of their finances to make sure they have enough funds left to live on?
I had a friend who was trying to discourage her elderly father from moving to Vegas. She said that him moving to Vegas with his extreme love for gambling would be like an alcoholic moving into the back room of a bar. Instead of his weekly two-hour trip to an Indian casino, she feared that he'd be gambling 18 hours a day until he had nothing left to keep him going.
