Had the first good cup of Tea in my life, today.

One of the dumb things that many Americans do, that ruins a proper pot of tea is........They don't use an electric kettle to BOIL the water. Heating water in a micro wave oven does not bring the water to a boil. Second error is not letting the tea steep in the pot, for at least 5 minutes, then pour it into warmed tea cups. Third error is not having or using a tea pot cozie/cover, to keep the tea warm in the pot for the second pour. JIMB>
That's ages ago that I used a real kettle on fire with a whistle and a teapot with a cover. Also had these lights to put under it.
I cook it with a water cooker. 5 minutes? No. Zjoot zjoot zjoot in a mug and it's ready.
I went to England once and got tea. My. I understand they put milk in it. I wanted milk too. Not that that tasted good, but still better than that extreme strong tea.

I drink a lot of decaffeinated green tea. Today I read the instructions for some upcoming tests. It said no caffein and no decaffeinated beverages for 24 hours prior. Does anyone know a good herbal tea? I will need something.

Not meaning to offend the entire British population, but I hate tea. all kinds. and it makes me ill. 🤢
But to each their own.. 😁

@Babs2u, I like the lavender/camomile tea by Bigelow. Bigelow & Celestrial seasonings makes a variety pack so you can try different teas to see what you like best.

@hollydolly, like you I don't like strong teas. I've found that steeping black teas in boiling water releases tannins that upset my stomach.

You could have a cup of boiling water with a big slice or lemon or orange added. It’s a little better than nothing.

I keep an assortment. Regular and decaf. Green tea, mint and lemon. Mostly Bigelow and Twining's. Also Constant Comment.
Good Earth Sweet and Spicey is good. Herbal tea tastes like mummy dust and Red Zinger is vile.

I used to nuke my tea water in the microwave but Ive reformed. A little.
I keep an old electric percolator with hot water on the counter 24/7.
Mostly because I want instant hot water and I dont want to wait for the microwave.

@Babs2u Have you tried plain hot water. Green tea isnt that far off. :D
I saw online that drinking hot water promotes weight loss. I figured it wont hurt me so what the heck.
Also in the Asian dramas they always drink hot water and theyre all skinny.
I havent lost any pounds. But I am drinking more water and thats a good thing.

I figured out what made the Irish Breakfast Tea so good.
Caffeine.

I have been drinking decaf tea all this time because caffeine causes me to have migraines and ny vision is impaired during a migraine episode.

I didn't get any migraine but my head felt funky after drinking caffeinated tea.

I had my son pick up Twinings decaf Irish Breakfast Tea and it's just as bland as my usual tea.

I also like herbal teas by celestial seasinings and bigalow. Black teas are too strong for me. They keep me awake..

Britain has tea plantations. I think there's only 2 commercial tea plantations in the whole US, and most of our tea is imported from China. Lipton is our #1 selling brand, but I don't like it at all. To me it tastes acidy, astringent, bitter, and absolutely flavorless.

I drink tea all day long. My favorites are any tea but Lipton. But I drink a tea blend, usually black + Earl Grey + ginger, because most teas available in our grocery stores just aren't that great, and there aren't many tea shoppes around anymore.
