Of what real "value" is loyalty to a geographical place? Can someone explain that concept to me? Brand loyalty, buy a Chevy. Political loyalty. But, place loyalty? Why? imp

I can't explain it to you imp, we are born in a place, perhaps grow up there, but why feel any loyalty to it?There are often much better places to live.You may feel some attachment because of nostalgia and so on,but I have moved lots of times, and liked some places more than others,Would not want to live where I was brought up, as much nicer here.

It's not simply geography. I lived in Michigan for a total of 32 years but haven't lived there in 25. Even though home is where I live now and I love it and wouldn't leave, I still consider myself a Michigander. My roots in Michigan go back to about 1855, and I had a huge extended family there. Nostaligia, happy memories.
 
If the predictions of the Climate scientists hold true, there will be a huge population shift in another 100 years, or so...as the oceans rise. Many of the huge coastal cities and low lying areas along the coasts will be flooded. Some predictions claim that as much as 1/3rd of our population will have to migrate inland to higher ground.
