Hand sanitizer, cigarette sparked Maryland car blaze.

A driver was burned and his car destroyed after a bizarre accident.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a shopping center in Rockville, Maryland.


The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene.

Fire officials said the driver was smoking a cigarette and then started to use hand sanitizer.

The sanitizer ignited and set the whole car on fire...the man was taken to hospital with Burns

yes absolutely, but the problem now is, that since the beginning of C-19 last year when those of us were first buying Isopropyl we were very aware it was alcohol...since then, any and every type of shop is selling little bottles of hand sanitiser for pennies next to the cash till, and people don't realise this is alcohol they're using....It should be made much clearer to those people who think they're using disinfectant
