Or, to put it in Boomer terms, who likes to mix and experiment with cocktails?

I really enjoy mixing drinks. I love experimenting to see what new creations I can come up with. But I also enjoy mixing the tried and true standards so that they taste as good as or preferably better than a bar drink.

I’ve perfected my own versions of:
Dirty Martini
Moscow Mule
Margarita
Gin and Tonic
Vodka Tonic
Whiskey Sour
Screwdriver
Bloody Mary
Mimosa

I’m going to experiment with some Thanksgiving themed drinks when we have our family get together. I’m going to try my hand at an Apple Crisp Punch (gin/apple cider/honey/citrus/apple slices) and a Blanco Lemon twist (Blanco tequila/maple syrup/lemon juice/ginger beer/citrus and thyme garnish) and see how everyone likes them!

I’ve been fooling around with tequila to create a fun thanksgiving cocktail. I think I’ve mastered it!!!

to a shaker, add
2 Oz tequila
1 Oz lemon juice
1 Oz maple syrup

Shake to ensure maple syrup is fully dissolved. Pour into a highball glass over ice. Add 3-4 Oz ginger ale. Garnish with skewer of fresh cranberries and lemon twists.

I’ve got the mix right, finally. When I actually assemble the pretty cocktail I’ll post a pic!

My husband called me "The Boat Drink Queen Of The East." 😆

This isn't a boat drink but it's one of my favorites.

Maple-Bourbon Smash

1/2 oz. pure maple syrup

1/2 oz. (or more to taste) freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 dashes (or more to taste) Angostura bitters

2 oz. bourbon

chilled seltzer water

1/2 an orange wheel for garnish

Except for the orange wheel and seltzer, combine everything above in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well, then strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with seltzer and garnish with 1/2 an orange wheel.

Maple-Bourbon Smash

Cherry Bounce

1/2 Gallon Wild Cherries
8 cups Distilled Water
8 cups Sugar
2 fifths Sautérne or German Wine
1 fifth White Lighting or Pure Alcohol

Wash cherries in cool water and place in a dark jar. Make a simple syrup with sugar and water. Bring to a boil but do not boil. Pour on cherries while still warm. When lukewarm cap and let sit for 10 days in a dark place. After 10 days drain off liquid and reserve. Pour 2 fifths white wine (sauterne or german white wine) on cherries and allow to sit for another 10 days after crushing cherries. Separate cherries from wine and mix wine with the reserved liquid. Add white lighting or pure alcohol and let sit for a few days. Store in cool dark spot.

I broke down and purchased a bottle of pre-mixed Old Fashioned.
Everything in one bottle, just add garnish for looks.

Bulleit Old Fashioned Cocktail.

This particular brand was recommended by one of my circle of Home Brew friends
and have to admit it was very good.

Won't be a go-to choice, but I'll keep some behind the bar for when I'm feeling lazy.

And speaking about Home Brew, my friend also shared another ESB (Extra Special Bitter) beer
recipe for me to try. He thinks its very close to the Fuller's brew.

Now if I can just find the right Hops and yeast, I'll be ready to give it a try.
This will probably drive the price per bottle up, but the Fun is in the details...

My tequila cocktail at Thanksgiving was a huge success. Ron named it “Tequila Fizz” The kids referred to it as that and also as “Tequila Maple Fizz” Either works.

I mixed up a batch, minus the ginger ale, so that I didn’t have to mix drinks by the glass. They worked their way through that pitcher really fast! Luckily I had the ingredients on hand to make up a second batch! Got most of the way through that one too! 😂

Hands up our resident mixologists!

You mix them, Ronni, I'll just happily swig them down. 😊
