When I was a freshman in high school I had a chemistry teacher who gave a pop quiz every Monday morning covering the latest SNL episode. I started watching the show's first season because of him. I haven't kept up on it in the past 20 years or so but the show"s early years had a huge influence on me back in my teen years.

The first few years were the best, or maybe I am just biased. It's sort of like the Tonight Show. I doubt if there will ever be another Johnny Carson.

I loved watching SNL in the early years '75-'80 and the 'Not Ready For Prime time PLayers":,Chevy Chase,Gilda Radner,John Belushi,Jane Curtain,Dan Aykroyd, Loraine Newman,Garrett Morris. Chevy left after the 1st yr,thinking he could become a movie star. He has said in interviews'that was the biggest mistake I ever made leaving SNL". Bill Murray was hired to replace him, made the show better in my opinion. A couple regular skits I always laughed at were 'The Coneheads", Gilda's parody of Barbara Walters"BaBa Wawa"" loudmouth newscaster, Roseanne Rosanna-Dana",.Bill &Gilda as 'Todd&Lisa',short films with "Mr. Bill" I stopped watching the show in the mid 90's Sue
