Here in the UK it is the now traditional "Fathers day" on Sunday, yet I've always felt it a bit ironic that any day focussing upon a father or mother, asking children to acknowledge what a good job so many parents do, has a bittersweet side to it, especially as divorce/separation rates soar or remain so high, that being reminded you're not being celebrated on your supposedly special day is the lot of so many nowadays, (hence the need for an UN-FATHERS DAY")!
Now I know there will be more than a few who will come along to lecture everyone about this or that, maybe taking the focus off "Real fathers day", (apparently there's been some kind of cultural shift where the child gets to decree who might be their "real father" as they choose, but so long as its in their interests hey, who can possibly complain?).
However, us open minded folks can come up with new ideas, new possibilities can't we, and in this case no parent/grandparent who wishes to join in celebrating the fact their walking on this planet contributed to the perpetuation of mankind, and feeling we should all be valued and celebrated "if not by our own", then by other "like minded folks"!
What do you think, am I on to a winner again?
(any with negative opinions are most welcome to keep them to themselves, especially as we approach our big " UN-FATHERS DAY" celebrations!)
