Known as Remebbrance Day or Armistice day ( Poppy day) .. today 11th of November ... in the uk we remember all those who died for our freedom, in previous wars, and all of those who are prepared to keep us safe with their lives today...

WE had a 2 minute silence at precisely11 am today.. 11/11...

My late husband was a veteran. I wrote this poem in 2012.

For our Veterans:

Throughout our country
People sing in memory -
MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE

For those brave soldiers
Who fought for our -
SWEET LAND OF LIBERTY

People take time off
From work to pray and to remember -
OF THEE I SING

To commemorate those soldiers
Who fought in battles long ago for the -
LAND WHERE MY FATHERS DIED

Each fallen soldier
Is one less person to live in this -
LAND OF THE PILGRIMS' PRIDE

And wherever our soldiers are
Their families will be waiting for them -
FROM EVERY MOUNTAINSIDE

To lay down their life so that we
May live free to sing -
LET FREEDOM RING!

We are truly indebted to those fallen soldiers
And to their families.
May their memories be eternal.
