Have to admit this picture got to me.

There's the photographic epitome of "Life is unfair" with all the death and destruction everywhere, it's this photo that will capture the sorrow of the moment.
 

Every time I watch these tragedies unfold from earthquakes, I am reminded of how thankful I am that in America we have rules about construction and building that require structures be built that can hold up too earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Survivability is greatly improved by these, somewhat expensive construction requirements, but they do save lives. Of course, they cannot protect us against all levels of destruction, but they do help to a great extent.
