Have U Ever Watched “Air Disasters?”

I was watching a show early this morning about a Russian airline that bought a new Airbus A-310. The Captain had his two kids onboard with him and allowed them to visit the cockpit, which is fine. He allowed the girl to sit in the Captain’s seat, which is not OK and he should have been fired and stripped of his pilot’s license. While sitting in the seat, the Captain altered the Autopilot to let her think she was flying the plane. Then the boy got in the seat and accidentally tripped off the autopilot. After that, all hell broke lose and the plane became uncontrollable and ended up crashing killing about 75 passengers and crew. No survivors.

When I saw that, I could not believe it happened. I had to look it up and verify that we had a pilot out there dumb enough to allow a 15 year old boy fly a passenger plane with so many people onboard. That was just about the dumbest thing I ever saw a pilot do. There were three other pilots in the cockpit at the time and not one spoke up. To me, they should have all been fired and had their ATP license pulled had they survived.

I wasn't watching today, but do regularly watch Air Disasters. I've seen that episode before, very tragic.
I just can’t imagine a pilot turning his plane over to a 16 year old boy. I often heard that families suffer the consequences when a family does something really stupid that costs them money. Will that happen here? We won’t hear about it if it does.

I watched that episode many months ago. I remember thinking at the time “Am I seeing what I think I am? Is this a true story”

I can’t even begin to imagine what the Captain was thinking, other than wanting to show off the new plane. The other part I had issues with was the first officer. Did his brain take a vacation? He should have immediately stepped in and said, “No way do those kids sit in the seat.”

If I'm not mistaken, this is the show my friend told me she watches when we were talking today. I've never seen it. What that pilot did was beyond stupid Oldman and it got everyone killed. And how about this one...recently I heard on the news that a pilot was set to fly a passenger jet but his alcohol level was three times what is considered intoxicated.
